// BILLIE BAILEY (AUS)
Billie Bailey (Born 1974)
With sensuous brushstrokes of the impressionism or the dreamlike space of magic realism the Australian/Danish artist Billie Bailey unfold her portraits of women and children. The figures are either situated in a poetic and yet unfamiliar landscape or she has zoomed in to the intimate detailed features of a face.
Billie Bailey ”sees images everywhere” and an old photo of a friends grandmother or a white stone found on the beach can be the source of inspiration. Her point of departure is the feminine universe and her main characters are either ambiguous sexualized woman, innocent girls or birds living in high heeled shoes.
In the exhibition at Gallery Lorien. Bird, Birds and … the artist presents a variety of miniature and large scale oil paintings, drawings and paintings on other objects.
